SCX is opening up a new category in its catalogue, and it’s doing it with the new C3 Off Road circuit. Thanks to names like Nani Roma and Carlos Sainz, off-road is on the rise. What makes this new circuit different is the range of challenges and difficulties that come up as you negotiate it. This time skilful driving matters more than just speed, as the obstacles included carry you off to the heart of the desert, with all the complications this involves. This is why the cars feature four-wheel drive and a pick-up guide with an extra-long pivoting arm to enable you to get over obstacles of all kinds, including dunes, ramps, oasis and bridges. SCX has put a lot of care into the details, to further enhance the feeling of being in the heart of the desert; the borders are eye-catching, with their rounded shapes and rocks. The C3 Off Road circuit also features an oasis track section, decorated with palm trees to look like a real lake in the middle of the track.

The two cars included are the Volkswagen Toureg, as driven to victory in four stages in the 2006 Lisbon-Dakar Rally by Carlos Sainz, and the Mitsubishi Pajero driven by Luc Alphand. Luc was one of the most famous downhill skiers of all time before exchanging snow for sand to drive in the Dakar rally. In 2005 he came in second place overall and in 2006 he conquered the Dakar after competing in the fifteenth and final stage, finishing at Senegal’s Pink Lake. Both cars feature off-road technology, with four-wheel drive, counter-gearing (enabling the car to stop in the middle of a ramp without sliding down) and a pick-up guide with an extra-long pivoting arm with a wide range of angles to get over any obstacles that get in the way.
